We recently got sent the message below. We don’t know the people that sent it although at first glance the thing seems fine. Perhaps someone out there could volunteer and let us know. If it is likely to help people with ADHD then lots of us should volunteer. There is also money in it (click the link for full article)

Dear Sir / Madam,
We are an independent medical market research company known as ARG – Adkins Research Group.
I have attached a web link so you may access our website which will further explain our credentials and the regulatory bodies that we are members of to ensure each and every patient that we speak with is treated with respect and that complete patient confidentiality is maintained.
We are currently doing some Face 2 face and Group interviews with people who are Parent/Carers of children with ADHD, and want to explore the patient world to understand the kind of information patients require. The research will explore how patient information needs change according to length of diagnosis.
The research is non-promotional and we are not trying to sell anything it is purely market research.
We are looking for a number Parent/Carers with children aged between 5-17 years who have been diagnosed with ADHD in the last 3-12 months and I was wondering if you knew anybody who might be willing to helping with this research.
The Parents/Carers involvement would be a 90 minute face to face in-home interview and a 2 hour group meeting with others Parents/Carers giving their views and thoughts on the types of information they need to live their daily life. Their participation is voluntary and they may withdraw at any time.
As a thank you for their time and feedback they would receive an honorarium of £50 for the initial 90 minute interview and a further £60 for the group meeting which they would receive at the time of interview or if they prefer can be donated to a charity of their choice.
We often have discussions with patients (and carers) who suffer from many different conditions and find that they really enjoy the opportunity to give their views and opinions on various aspects of their condition which in turn gives us the opportunity to gain a better understanding of their experiences of both living and dealing with ADHD and the types of information sources that they may like to see developed further.
If you have any interested Parents/Carers we can be contacted either be phone or email and are happy to contact patients directly if they are prepared to have details passed on to us.
For each Patient/Carer that agrees to participate we would like to make a donation of £20 to your group.
I have available information that could be sent to parents explaining exactly what is required from the sponsoring company, and would be happy to forward this to you should you be interested.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this information today and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely
Amanda Howard
